Be sure to use details like price, storage and other data that Claude will need to search for to reference accurately. Refresh High-Value Pages Quarterly<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Claude leans hard on recency when choosing what to surface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In testing, we saw it rewrite queries, even simple ones, with a built-in year marker (\u201c2025\u201d), and the Brave results it returns almost always come from pages that make their freshness obvious in titles or headings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>This happens whether the querier signals recency (\u201cmost up-to-date,\u201d \u201c2025\u201d) <\/strong><strong><em>or not<\/em><\/strong><strong>.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once Claude decides a search is required, it still reformulates the query with a time marker and pulls pages that clearly match that signal. SaaS content that doesn\u2019t present itself as current gets pushed down. The returned results are again year-stamped, confirming that recency is a built-in retrieval preference \u2013 not just a user-driven one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The exception: <\/strong>Claude almost always prefers fresh content, but if a query is so specific that the best-matched pages on Brave aren\u2019t very recent, it will still pull them. In those instances, relevance outweighs recency (and right now, we can\u2019t see exactly how Claude scores relevance).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But overall, the goal is to ensure your pages are current, so they consistently enter Claude\u2019s candidate pool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How to signal recency to Claude:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul style=\"line-height:1.6\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Make meaningful updates to existing content.<\/strong> Add new limits, revised steps, updated screenshots, or clarified use cases.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Update your titles and H2s when the year changes.<\/strong> Claude\u2019s query rewrites often include the year; your headings should match the pattern.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Include freshness markers and maintain technical signals.<\/strong> Add visible on-page timestamps (\u201cUpdated January 2025\u201d), and keep your Last-Modified header, sitemap &lt;lastmod&gt; values, and structured data timestamps updated so crawlers and LLMs can detect that the page is fresh.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Remove outdated claims quickly.<\/strong> Old pricing, deprecated features, and retired integrations reduce both query alignment and recency value.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-5-offer-content-claude-can-t-paraphrase\">5. Offer Content Claude Can\u2019t Paraphrase<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Claude only cites when it can\u2019t rely on its model or safely paraphrase a detail. Complex queries make this show up more often because they require exact values, limits, or steps that Claude can\u2019t recreate on its own.
